Function: The primary function of this office is to maintain permanent records including deeds, mortgages, marriage licenses, judgments, and other documents required to be filed with Forest County (see below for detailed listing). These documents are all available for review by the public.
Office Location/Hours: The office is located on the first floor
Prothonotary - Documents relating to civil cases, including judgments that have been filed.
Clerk of Courts - Documents relating to current and past criminal cases.
Register of Wills - All estate paperwork filed regarding a particular individual.
Recorder of Deeds - All deeds, mortgages, satisfactions, assignments, rights-of-way, powers of attorney, agreements, and leases that have been filed for recording purposes.
Clerk of Orphan's Court - All Orphan's Court documents, including marriage licenses.
Recorder of Deeds - The base fee for recording most documents is $54.00, including four (4) names and four (4) pages. Satisfactions and Assignments have a base fee of $56.00. Each additional name is $0.50 and each additional page is $2.00. Certified copies of recordings are $2.00 (plus photocopying costs).
Register of Wills - Fees are billed on a per case basis.
Clerk of Courts - Fees are billed on a per case basis.
Marriage licenses can be
obtained from the Clerk of the Orphans' Court for a fee of $40. Licenses are
